Kajima appoints head of development and investment in partnerships business

Kajima Europe, the real asset investor, developer and manager with £10 billion of assets under management, has appointed Andrew Ludiman as head of development and investment for its partnerships business.

Ludiman joins from Homes England, where he delivered financial structures for housing and regeneration projects through joint ventures, funds and other funding initiatives.set to enable the delivery of more than 10,000 homes across England.

He has around 30 years’ experience in large-scale residential and commercial real estate investment and development and was commercial director at Knight Dragon and director of investment at Capital & Counties before joining Homes England.

At Capital and Counties he was responsible for the development and management of major regeneration schemes, including the £16 billion mixed-use development at Greenwich Peninsula.

Kajima said Ludiman will lead the company's development and investment team to expand the regeneration, development and social infrastructure arms of the business, with support from Chris Gill, managing director of Kajima Partnerships.

He will also join the board of Kajima's regeneration joint venture with Genr8 Developments, Genr8 Kajima Regeneration, developing new business opportunities.

Gill said in a statement: "Andrew is a key strategic appointment for the Kajima Partnerships business, and we are delighted to welcome him to the company. Andrew brings a huge amount of expertise in social infrastructure and regeneration, a core sector which we are committed to growing within Kajima.

"I look forward to working together with Andrew and the Kajima Partnerships board to continue actively expanding and enhancing our business strategy and pursue further investment and development opportunities across the UK and Europe."

The recruitment of Ludiman forms part of Kajima Partnerships’ growth plan, including a series of promotions, with Gill promoted in September. Kevin Hawkins was made operations director and head of social infrastructure, and Christine Phillips finance director. Kajima Partnerships is the property and project finance investment arm of Kajima Europe, which is active in social infrastructure, renewables and urban regeneration.

It has social infrastructure projects with a total investment value of over £1 billionn and has 4 gigawatts of renewable energy projects in development across Europe.
