Clarion to expand multifamily holdings; Avison Young pursues Nashville business; Newmark adds to Denver valuation team

Clarion to expand multifamily holdings

Brett Kahn joined investment management firm Clarion Partners as managing director and head of asset management. He will be based in the company’s Los Angeles office and focused on housing. New York-based Clarion said Kahn will lead efforts to grow the firm’s multifamily property portfolio. He has nearly two decades of multifamily experience, most recently serving as managing director and West Region co-head at JPMorgan Asset Management.

At JPMorgan, Kahn oversaw a $25 billion portfolio with more than 41 million square feet of office, industrial and retail investments, along with more than 11,000 apartment units. He has completed more than $5.5 billion in real estate transactions in his career.

Avison Young pursues Nashville business

Avison Young hired Jenna Muller as principal in the brokerage’s Nashville office. The company said Muller joined the firm from Cushman & Wakefield, where she was a senior director. She has more than 20 years of industry experience, handling office leasing and tenant representation for several mixed-use developments in the Nashville area, such as Neuhoff District and Gulch Union. Muller started her career in Washington, D.C., with Cassidy & Pinkard Colliers, which was subsequently acquired by Cushman.

Avison Young also appointed David Scherer to the role of principal in its Las Vegas office. Scherer joined the firm in October 2024 as an executive vice president and has 38 years of commercial real estate experience. According to Avison, Scherer has worked in the Las Vegas region since 1987 and completed more than $2.3 billion in transactions. 

Newmark bolsters Denver valuation team 

Newmark hired Mark Lodmill as executive vice president for valuation and advisory in its Denver office. The brokerage said Lodmill joined the firm’s multifamily valuation and advisory practice focused on Rocky Mountain states and the Seattle region. He has extensive experience in multifamily transactions, including conventional apartments and student housing.

Lodmill mmost recently served as executive director at Cushman & Wakefield and held earlier executive roles at CBRE in the Denver region. He is a 28-year industry veteran who has handled multifamily valuations and related studies for projects across Colorado and eight other states.

KBC Advisors names partner for industrial services

Industrial-focused property services firm KBC Advisors hired David Johnson as a partner and market leader, based in the firm’s New York office. Johnson, who was formerly the head of acquisitions for logistics developer Wildflower Ltd., will co-lead KBC’s New York business with current partner Gabe Temkin.

Johnson has 20 years of industrial real estate experience in the tri-state area, handling transactions in categories such as last-mile logistics, outdoor storage and electric vehicle developments. He also previously served as a brokerage professional at Eastern Consolidated, negotiating the sale of development sites among other properties in the New York region.

ISS taps chief hospitality officer

Global facilities management firm ISS North America named Rene van Camp to the newly created role of chief hospitality officer and principal of its Guckenheimer culinary brand, based in the company’s New York office. The company said van Camp will oversee food and hospitality programs across North America.

He has more than 20 years of experience in food and beverage services and other elements of luxury hospitality. He started his career working with Michelin-starred chefs before taking leadership roles at firms such as InterContinental Hotels Group and Delta Airlines.

ISS has U.S. regional operations based in San Antonio, Texas, and manages more than 13,000 sites for North American clients.
