LONDON (Mar. 2, 2009) – After over three decades in the industry, hotelier MPS Puri has embarked on his latest venture – the development and launch of Nira Hotels & Resorts, a London-based boutique luxury hotel management company.
“Nira Hotels & Resorts is a natural progression of my vision of a nomadic, bohemian-chic, hospitality brand. Here, luxury is about your way, a touch of our hand and the passion that binds the two,” said Puri, Chief Executive of Nira.
Puri brings a wealth of hospitality experience with some of the world’s top brands (including Peninsula Hotels, Raffles International, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Ritz Carlton, Orient Express Hotels & Resorts and GHM Hotels) to the creation of Nira Hotels & Resorts.
Nira Hotels & Resorts has already signed two projects – Nira Diwa in Manila, Philippines, and Nira Lahari in Kerala, India – both of which will open in 2011. Additional projects in the pipeline include existing properties in Brazil, the Maldives and London. Expansion is top-of-mind as Nira is looking to expand its portfolio of properties in key global markets.
The Nira Ethos
More than a new brand, Nira is an arbiter of lifestyle, coalescing mystery, subtle eroticism and spirituality. “Nira was personified as an elegant yet edgy woman. She has the wisdom and aplomb that comes with experience. Donning various avatars to suit the situation, she is as sophisticated as she is spontaneous. She is vivacious, mature and eclectic – all at the same time,” Puri commented. Nira Hotels & Resorts embodies these ideals through authenticity, evocative design and superlative service. “Nira assimilates what its nomadic guests really want, compelling primordial experiences and a human interface that keeps the guest at the epicentre. At Nira, the service is intuitive, passionate and committed to integrity,” Puri noted.
“Devotion to detail and quality is truly the difference between greatness and mediocrity. We don’t just want customers; we want fans – for life,” he added.
The Nira Hotels
Nira Diwa – Manila, Philippines
Exuding old-world charm and contemporary sophistication, Nira Diwa will be located at Fort Bonafacio at the crossroads of business and entertainment in Manila. Appealing to the discerning business traveler and adventure enthusiast, Nira Diwa will emerge as a divine haven for those seeking refuge from the stress of corporate and everyday life.
Positioned as an intimate 154-room hotel, Nira Diwa will infuse local culture and modern style to emerge as an exclusive urban retreat in the local community. Carefully crafted details add the layers, which in turn generate further interest and excitement – and characteristic of the best details, they are playful. Nira Diwa will feature a rooftop swimming pool, a fully-equipped gym on each floor, and an entire floor of meeting studios. The restaurant will evolve through various mealtimes.
During lunch, the Pan-Asian cuisine will be augmented by open kitchens and animated stations. It will take on a more ceremonial hue in the evenings, serving the finest steaks from around the world. Additionally, the spectacular rooftop bar will lend glamour and fun to Manila’s nightlife.
Nira Diwa is being designed by Tan Hock Beng of MAPS Design. The award-winning Hock Beng is a leading international figure in the field of tropical architecture and resort design. Hospitality projects have included W Retreat and Residences in Samui, Thailand; Park Hyatt Lijang, China; and The Wharf, Seychelles among many others.
Nira Lahari – Kerala, India
Nira Lahari will be a laid-back luxury resort destination in the heart of tropical India. Blessed with a long shoreline of serene beaches and tranquil stretches of emerald backwaters, Kerala is an enchanting tourist destination. Located on picturesque Vembanad Lake, Nira Lahari will have 40 pool villas and 40 rooms spread across 40 lush acres of backwater country.
Visitors will have myriad opportunities to take in the local culture. Nira Lahari will offer a backwater cruise on a luxury boat, with palm fringed land on either side. It will have two restaurants – one serving international fare and one celebrating the bounty of the region. Other facilities will include an outdoor amphitheatre to soak in the magic of the local performing arts, and a superb spa comprising the holistic healing traditions of Kerala – ayurveda – with contemporary variations on that theme.
The Nira Team
Nira Hotels & Resorts has partnered with C&C Hospitality, which has investments in a number of prominent hospitality brands.
To support his endeavor, Puri has assembled an impressive team: Cherian Thomas, Member of the Board; Dhairya Choudhrie, Director; Peter Bates, Sales & Marketing; Navneeth Krishna, Finance; Corine Lee-Montepeque, Business Development; Junko Kawai, Human Resources; and Kunal Malhotra, Technical Services.
