Newmark expands multifamily finance team; Cresa hires target New York deals; leasing executive rejoins CBRE in Phoenix 

Newmark hired Dan Baker as a managing director within its multifamily debt and structured finance business. Baker, based in St. Louis, brings more than 15 years of experience in multifamily and commercial property funding.

Baker will advise clients on sourcing through Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, life insurance companies and other debt and equity sources, Newmark said. He worked most recently at BWE after earlier roles at firms including Northmarq, Triad Bank and the Bank of St. Louis.

Cresa hired veteran brokers Kenneth Salzman as a principal and Seth Rosen as a vice president. Based in the firm’s New York office, Salzman and Rosen previously served as managing directors at Lee & Associates, where they focused on tenant representation. Salzman also previously worked at Newmark Knight Frank.

CBRE said Jami Savage-Gray returned to its Phoenix office as a senior vice president who will focus on portfolio tenant leasing. Savage-Gray rejoined CBRE after working at JLL, where she served as an executive vice president. Prior to JLL, she was at CBRE for nearly 10 years after previously working at SRS Real Estate Partners and developer De Rito Partners.

CBRE also promoted Jack Michel to vice president in its San Antonio office. Michel previously served as a senior associate. Before joining CBRE in 2019, he worked at firms that include CoStar Group and Avnet Technology Solutions.

The executive board of BXP, one of the nation’s largest owners and developers of office properties, approved a four-year extension of the employment agreement for CEO and Chairman Owen Thomas. The new contract runs through Dec. 31, 2029, and includes performance-based equity awards for Thomas and other members of BXP’s senior leadership team, the Boston-based company said. Thomas’ previous employment agreement was scheduled to expire in December 2026.

Acadia Realty Trust named David Buell as chief accounting officer, effective Jan.1. The Rye, New York-based real estate investment trust said Buell will succeed Richard Hartmann, who will assume a new role as senior vice president of strategic initiatives. Buell has more than 15 years of industry experience, including executive roles at Kite Realty Group and KPMG.

Chevy Chase, Maryland-based NewPoint Real Estate Capital launched a new healthcare investment sales platform headed by Tim Cobb as managing director. Cobb has more than 25 years of experience, most recently founding advisory firm Cobb Healthcare Real Estate. He held earlier leadership roles at Berkadia, Blueprint Healthcare Real Estate Advisors, KeyBank and GE Capital.

Paul Blackburn was promoted to executive vice president of agent development and culture in the Chicago office of @properties Christie’s International Real Estate, a division of brokerage Compass. The firm said Blackburn served most recently as a vice president of brokerage services for its Chicago region. He will now oversee coaching, training and related business development efforts for Chicago, northwest Indiana, southeast Wisconsin and southwest Michigan.

NFP, a division of Aon that deals with property and casualty brokerage and benefits, hired Tony Garcia as senior vice president and casualty broker in its real estate practice. Garcia, based in New York City, has over 25 years of commercial insurance and real estate experience, most recently serving as a managing director at The Hartford.
