Mindful of the lessons learned from the Pontiac Silverdome football stadium's disastrous descent into obsolescence, the City of Auburn Hills has been more proactive in supporting redevelopment efforts for another local sporting event venue, the Palace at Auburn Hills. The former home of the NBA’s Detroit Pistons is the latest local sporting event icon to face the wrecking ball after the team announced plans to relocate to the Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit.
