Property professionals from across the Midlands, Yorkshire and the North West have raised more than £15,000 for charity by playing in a rugby tournament.
The funds were raised during the Tri-Regions Rugby competition hosted by Midlands Property at Averyfields in Birmingham, home of Bournville Rugby Club and Midlands Hurricanes RLFC.
The event brought together three regional teams for an afternoon of rugby, supporting both the Alzheimer’s Society and The Lewis Moody Trust. Midlands Property lifted the winner’s trophy.
The Midlands Property rugby team, which represents professionals from across the regional property sector, was established in 2008 by Jonathan Robinson and Adam McGuinness. Since its inception, the team has played a key role in bringing the industry together while supporting charitable causes.
The event was supported by companies across the property sector, including Midlands main sponsors Stoford and Barberry; Indurent, Chancerygate and JMW in the North West; and Panattoni, Verdion and Woodstock Capital Ventures in Yorkshire.
Additional Midlands event sponsors included Benniman, Savills, Cushman & Wakefield, Colmore Capital, Incore, Harris Lamb, M1 Agency, Caddick, Industrial Agents Society, Cormack, Landra Developments, Wilkes, Precise, CA Group, One Creative Environments, Frontier Facilities Management alongside rugby charity Wooden Spoon.
A donation of £7,500 was presented to the Alzheimer’s Society in the West Midlands by the commercial property community after the rugby.
Jonathan Robinson, development director at Barberry Group, said: "We’re extremely proud to have raised £7,500 for the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity that resonates with so many people across our network and the rugby community in particular.
"The level of support has been fantastic and shows the strength of the property community when it comes together for a common goal.”
Adam McGuinness, of MXW Real Estate Advisors, added: "To generate this level of funding for the Alzheimer’s Society is a brilliant achievement. There’s a real sense of purpose behind the event, and it’s rewarding to know the difference this donation will make."
Those leading the event said the money will support services for people living with dementia, as well as groundbreaking research, providing a meaningful boost to the charity’s work supporting individuals and families across the region.
Luke Selibas, Midlands regional fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society, also said: "We are incredibly grateful to receive this £7,500 donation. Every pound raised helps us support people affected by dementia and brings us closer to a world where it no longer devastates lives. It’s inspiring to see the property sector unite behind such an important cause."
