A pick up in hiring numbers in December saw annual employment growth rise up to 1.5% in Southern California's Orange County, adding a total of 25,400 jobs in 2019. This is back above the national average of 1.4%, though still below the California average of 1.8%, compressing the unemployment rate even further and ending the year at 2.4% — well below both the California average of 3.7% and the national average of 3.4%.
