New towns near transport hubs key to London’s future

Taking advantage of recent and proposed transport improvements to create new town centre hotspots outside the city core is key to securing London’s future, according to new research.

In its London Mixed Use Development report, Savills says that over 55msq ft of residential accommodation (the equivalent of 860 football pitches) is needed every year to satisfy demand, and 4m sq ft of office space (comparable to three buildings the size of The Shard) is required annually to keep pace with employment growth and companies looking to upgrade their existing offices.
