Metro’s Silver Line Extension Has Driven New Development Since 2014

Since Washington, D.C.’s Metro extended its Silver Line into Northern Virginia in 2014, the suburban markets surrounding the new stops have seen office rents increase faster than in city neighborhoods, according to CoStar data. This is a positive sign for markets even farther outside D.C. that hope to benefit from a second extension of the Silver Line, which opened Nov. 15.
