Fawlty Towers hotel to auction off contents

Contents from the hotel that inspired the iconic sitcom Fawlty Towers are to be sold at auction next week.

The Gleneagles Hotel in Torquay, Devon, was made famous by John Cleese after he based the hit series on his stay there with the Monty Python crew back in the seventies, with the hotel’s then-owner unwittingly becoming the inspiration for Cleese’s neurotic character, Basil Fawlty.
