In April and May, Ontario’s "emergency brake" lockdown had a negative impact on Ottawa’s hotel performance as people stayed home to battle against the third wave of COVID-19 cases. In both months, occupancy, a key performance metric for the hotel industry, was 23%, with only essential leisure and corporate business generating demand.
