Landsec has made Stuart Orr regional asset and leasing director in an appointment that will see him switch from working on the redevelopment of Glasgow's Buchanan Galleries to help with two major Manchester schemes.
Orr, who joined Landsec from Savills in 2023 as senior development manager, confirmed on LinkedIn that he had taken up the new role to work with the teams delivering the Mayfield Manchester development and MediaCityUK in Manchester.
He said: "It’s been a real privilege to have worked on Buchanan Galleries, and to be involved with a team effecting meaningful change for the benefit of my home city.
"We have collectively reshaped a new and exciting strategy for a wider Buchanan Galleries estate at the ‘top of the town’ that leans into Buchanan Street’s retail strength, identifying its opportunities, and have designed a response that is investible and deliverable with a relatively quick turnaround."
Orr has more than 25 years' experience in the real estate industry, having also worked for FG Burnett, DTZ and CBRE. He was at Savills for almost eight years before joining Landsec.
His switch to the Manchester project follows the developer's submission of a planning application for the reworking of the Glasgow retail hub earlier this summer, including the reconfiguring and modernising the existing mall, as well as the addition of a "destination food hall" and new retail and leisure accommodation.
Mayfield Manchester is a £1.5 billion mixed-use scheme next to Piccadilly station, including homes, offices and retail. Landsec received planning to build the first phase of homes at the project this month.
Landsec took full control of MediaCityUK at the end of last year and is working to regenerate the Salford scheme by adding circa 3,000 new homes as well as around 800,000 square feet of additional commercial space across 60 acres.
The company was approached for comment.
