New Data Shows Retail Sales Growing in Seattle Region

Despite Lower Inventory, Sales on the Rise in Puget Sound’s Major Cities

Taxable retail sales in the Seattle metropolitan area — consisting of King, Pierce and Snohomish counties — totaled $132 billion in 2022, a 9% increase over the prior year, according to new data from the Washington State Department of Revenue. That figure also represents an increase of 22% over 2019, before sales took a dip in with the onset of the pandemic in 2020.
