UK economy posts strongest quarterly growth in 12 months

Gross domestic product grew by 0.7% in the first quarter, outperforming the rest of the major economies

The UK economy grew by 0.2% in March, pushing quarterly growth to 0.7%, the strongest since the first quarter of 2024, according to initial estimates released by the Office for National Statistics on Thursday. However, trade tensions will likely slow growth in the remainder of the year.
