Convention center competition heats up as U.S. cities pour billions into transformations

There are about 150 major convention centers in the United States. They serve the business community by hosting trade shows, association conferences and corporate summits. They also host sports tournaments, comic conventions and community events, such as job fairs and graduation ceremonies.
