Accor have signed a development deal with long-term partner, Sun Group to add 5,300 rooms to its portfolio in Vietnam.
The French hotel group said in a news release that the arrangement will bring several of its hotel brands to Vietnam for the first time, including SO/, Swissôtel and Tribe.
The hotels will be operated by Danang, Vietnam-based Sun Group's division Sun Hospitality & Entertainment, which will also oversee the increased presence in Vietnam of Accor hotel brands Grand Mercure, Ibis Styles and MGallery.
Several hotels confirmed in development as part of the first phase of the new agreement include the 180-room Ruby Beach Hotel MGallery Collection; 250-room Bana Hills Hotel Danang MGallery Collection; 250-room Grand Mercure Phú Quốc Ruby Beach; 300-room SO/ Phú Quốc Ruby Beach; 321-room Tribe Hon Thom Phú Quốc, and 588-room Ibis Styles Hon Thom Phú Quốc.
In the Gulf of Thailand, Phú Quốc is Vietnam’s largest island.
“Vietnam’s rapid evolution makes it a key growth engine for our region, and this milestone agreement with Sun Group highlights the strength of our joint development ambitions,” said Duncan O’Rourke, Accor’s CEO for premium, midscale and economy brands in the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific in a news release.
Vietnam is Accor’s third-largest Asian market by hotel count, with 45 hotels. Only China and India have more Accor hotel properties. Globally, Accor has approximately 5,800 hotels in 110 countries.
According to CoStar, Sun Group owns 37 hotels and 13,020 rooms, with the tally of 5,943 rooms most likely mostly referring to the latest Accor agreement.
All its properties are in Vietnam, and its portfolio also includes hotels branded with Rosewood Hotel Group, Marriott International, Hilton and Ascott International.
