Blackstone affiliate ShopCore Properties executive Wesley Sin has helped turn part of The Shops at Skyview in the New York City borough of Queens into a K-pop concert hall.

The center, which ShopCore touts as "the region's largest multi-level shopping destination," treated shoppers to a free song-and-dance performance from South Korean pop idol Moon Jong-up, who also is an actor. Fans packed the center's fourth level for the July 9 show that also featured a meet-and-greet session.

Moon's performance was part of ShopCore's K-Fun Day that has grown to several weeks of festivities designed to highlight Korean culture, food and art. “K-Fun day was one of The Shops at Skyview’s most popular events last year," Sin said in a LinkedIn post. "Given the success, we wanted to expand our celebration to a full month to bring the community even more fun, immersive cultural experiences all summer long!"

Moon debuted in the six-member group B.A.P, the first K-pop group to perform in Times Square. He recently competed as a solo artist in the Korean reality TV show "Peak Time” where he gained "immediate support from fans all over the world," said Sin, a regional marketing director.

Shops at Skyview in Flushing is a 559,978-square-foot retail property that Blackstone bought in 2015. ShopCore leases and manages the center.
