Kajima recruits head of development and investment
Kajima Europe, the real asset investor, developer and manager with £10 billion of assets under management, has continued its leadership shake-up with the appointment of Andrew Ludiman, who becomes head of development and investment for its partnerships business.
Ludiman joins from Homes England, where he delivered financial structures for housing and regeneration projects through joint ventures, funds and other funding initiatives. He has around 30 years’ experience in large-scale residential and commercial real estate investment and development and was also commercial director at Knight Dragon and director of investment at Capital & Counties.
Ludiman will lead the company's development and investment team to expand the regeneration, development and social infrastructure arms of the business, with support from Chris Gill, managing director of Kajima Partnerships. The appointment feeds into Kajima Partnerships’ growth plan, including a series of promotions, with Gill promoted in September.
Cushman & Wakefield changes UK head of sustainability
Cushman & Wakefield has promoted Megan Such to head of sustainability for the UK. Such, a sustainability consultant who joined the firm four years ago, will lead the team that handles the integration of sustainability into all owner, occupier and investor client real estate activity across multiple sectors. She will work at the firm’s Yorkshire and North East regional hub in Leeds and succeeds Tony Comber, who remains at the firm and will oversee broader sustainability operations as UK head of building engineering services and sustainability lead. Cushman & Wakefield’s wider EMEA sustainability services platform is headed by James Woodhead.
EMCCA names permanent chief executive
The East Midlands Combined County Authority is set to appoint its first permanent chief executive, Amy Harhoff, from Durham County Council, where she acted as corporate director for regeneration, economy and growth for the past four years. Harhoff has also held senior roles at Sandwell Council in the West Midlands, South Yorkshire Combined Authority and Transport for Greater Manchester. She will be responsible for leading the authority's work on regional transport, housing, economic development, net zero, jobs and skills priorities. Harhoff is expected to take up her appointment in the new year and replaces interim chief executive, Mark Rogers, and will work alongside Mayor Claire Ward.
Catella APAM hires asset manager in Manchester

Adam Handley has been recruited as asset manager in Catella APAM's Manchester office. The firm said Handley has "impressive breadth of expertise across asset management, project leadership, investment analysis, and leasing", and more than a decade of high-level experience. He spent 10 years at Till Asset Management, where he joined in 2014 and worked his way up to associate from assistant development manager. At Catella APAM he will be dedicated to Danish pension fund Britannia and the Greater Manchester Pension Fund, which the firm described as "two key portfolios in Catella APAM’s responsibility". Nathan Reidy, associate director at Catella APAM, said: "Adam’s proven expertise and proactive approach make him a perfect fit for our team.
CPP buys firm to expand regional platform

Steve Moriarty, founder of logistics Moriarty & Co, will join real estate advisor CPP as director in a national role, working alongside its co-founders and directors Roger Haworth and Toby Vernon after they bought his business. CPP bosses said they acquired Moriarty & Co to strengthen its industrial and logistics platform across Yorkshire and the Midlands as they look to expand into the North West and other regions. CPP said Moriarty adds a 6-million-square-foot order book of buildings and development pipeline, creating a combined UK-wide platform of 25 million-plus square feet. Vernon said: “We are thrilled to welcome Steve on board, having known and worked with him for many years."

Hanover Green adds retail and leisure trio
Hanover Green has recruited three people to its retail and restaurant team. Alex Tentori and William Knight both join as senior surveyors from Newmark while Nicola Avery comes from the client side in a new role as business coordinator. The firm said it is now the largest independent landlord-focused London retail and restaurant agency, with a total of 13 staff. Matt Hyland, head of agency, said in a statement: "The most important part of any business is its people, and we are lucky to have a fantastic team working on behalf of great clients on some of the best retail and restaurant instructions in London."
CREW launches chapters in UK and New York

The Commercial Real Estate Women Network has added chapters in the UK and Rochester (New York). CREW Network delegates voted unanimously to add CREW UK and CREW Rochester at its Autumn Leadership Summit in Vancouver. The CREW UK chapter, based in London, started as an affiliate group and established its expansion outside of North America in 2017. CREW UK president Kirsty Shearer and president-elect Sarah Thorley spearheaded the transition from global affiliate to chapter with support from Treasurer Ginny Gibson and directors Chris Early, Allison English, Sayantani Ghosh and Naomi Sakamoto. CREW has 85 chapters and more than 14,000 members globally.
