Avison Young appoints head of valuation Scotland
Avison Young has promoted Glasgow-based Kerry Maguire to head of valuation Scotland and hired four people in the same office across its valuation, building and project consultancy and planning teams.
Maguire has worked as a director in the valuation team for more than five years, "providing expert property valuations and strategic advice across a diverse range of sectors, with particular expertise in public sector property and niche private sector assets".
The firm said she will lead on asset valuation for the public sector following. Her LinkedIn profile shows she joined Avison Young in 2013 as a principal and stepped up to associate director in 2018.
She said in a statement: "I'm pleased to be taking on this role leading our valuation team in Scotland. We have a strong platform already, and I’m looking forward to building on that, particularly by expanding our work in public sector asset valuation."
Redevco appoints real estate debt director
Redevco, one of Europe’s largest privately owned real estate managers, has appointed Meera Sanjee as a director in its real estate debt team. Sanjee is based in the firm's London office and reports to Richard Craddock, head of real estate debt. She started on 19 January and helps oversee loan portfolio management across the company's real estate debt activities, covering the firm’s lending portfolio and the borrowing activities of its equity mandates. She also supports the continued growth of its real estate debt and levered strategies across Europe. Sanjee joins Redevco from CBRE Investment Management’s real estate debt business after around five years.
Urbanest recruits experienced head of development
Student accommodation provider Urbanest has hired Gavin de Klerk as head of development to replace the departing Angus Kearin. He has more than 25 years’ experience delivering large-scale development projects across the UK, Europe and the Middle East and North Africa. He moves from luxury residential developer Concord London, where he was development director and worked across mixed-use, commercial, residential, retail and hospitality schemes with aggregate values in excess of £10 billion. Before this he spent four years at Lendlease. De Klerk will lead the delivery of future schemes and work to upgrade existing developments across its student portfolio.
London & Regional name CEO to lead new hospitality platform
London and Regional, the UK-based real estate investment firm of the Livingstone brothers, has appointed Shan Kanagasingham, a hospitality veteran with more than 30 years of global experience, to run its new hospitality operating platform. The appointment of Kanagasingham to chief operating officer of Iconic Hotels & Resorts, the new platform, follows the merger of the group's existing brands, Iconic Luxury Hotels and L and R Hotels. She moves from Auberge Resorts Collection, where she was senior vice-president, operations, openings and transitions in Miami, according to her LinkedIn profile and will oversee operations across the global platform.
Ryden expands teams in Scotland
Ryden has significantly expanded its professional services team after integrating with LSH in Scotland, with Ann Kay becoming a partner and Chris Common an associate. Hugh Munro also joins as a rating consultant from the Scottish Assessors, taking the Scotland team to 13 members across three specialisms. Brian Allen, head of professional services at Ryden, said: "I’ve worked at Ryden for more than 25 years, and the assembly of this team has been part of a long-term vision that is now coming to fruition. Bringing together Ryden and LSH’s Professional Services expertise allows us to deploy one of the largest and most experienced teams of its kind in Scotland."
Muse adds senior project manager in Leeds
Regeneration development specialist Muse hired Michael Ramsden to the role of senior project manager in its Leeds office, with the recruit joining to support across projects in Yorkshire and the North East. Ramsden has more than a decade of experience in project and commercial management and moves from Latimer Developments, where managed one of Leeds’ largest residential projects focused on creating 1,800 new homes in the city centre. At Muse he will work at Wakefield Strategic Regeneration Partnership, where the firm is a development partner, as well as the Baltic Quarter project in Gateshead, where the firm signed a pre-development agreement last week.
GPE appoints non-executive director
Property investment firm GPE has appointed Peter Duffy will join its board as a non-executive director from 2 March 2026. Duffy, who has been the chief executive of Mony Group since September 2020, will become a member of the audit, remuneration and nomination committees. His previous executive roles have included CEO at Just Eat, chief commercial officer at easyJet and head of marketing at Audi UK, as well as a number of senior commercial roles at Barclays. GPE chair William Eccleshare said: "I am delighted that Peter will be joining the GPE Board, bringing his considerable commercial, operational and recent non-executive experience."
