Rosewood premiers in Qatar

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has opened the 155-room Rosewood Doha in the Lusail district of the capital of Qatar, a property that also contains 338 branded apartments and residences and The Pavilion, a residential-style event space.

Moxy by Marriott opens in Northern Ireland

Marriott International has opened its first Moxy-branded hotel in Northern Ireland. The Moxy Belfast City is not only the recipient of that accolade but is also the 100th Moxy hotel in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. The 179-room hotel is owned by MHL Hotel Collection.

Accor signs Sofitel hotel in Genoa, Italy

Accor has signed the 120-room Sofitel Genoa Waterfront in Genoa, Italy, with investment partners Orion and CDS Holding SpA. It will be a sibling to the brand’s other hotel in Italy, the 78-room Sofitel Roma Villa Borghese, and, eventually, to three other Sofitel developments in Milan, Palermo and Venice. The Genoa property is scheduled to open in 2027.

IHG, Pacini Group to rebrand Venice hotel

IHG Hotels & Resorts and owner Pacini Group are joining forces to debut The Venice Times, Vignette Collection, hotel under one of IHG’s soft brands. The new Venetian hotel will have 30 rooms and open under its new brand by the end of the year. IHG already has a hotel in Venice, the 75-room Hotel Indigo Venice-Sant’Elena.

Waldorf Astoria planned for Helsinki

Hilton has signed a management agreement with owner M&L Group to open the 116-room Waldorf Astoria Helsinki, the debut for the brand in Finland. In the Finnish capital’s Kruununhaka district, the hotel is in a building dating from 1855 that currently operates as the Hotel Maria.

Scandic to open hotel in western Norway

Scandic Hotels and family office Helle plan to open the 97-room Scandic Victoria Florø at the end of this year from what was until very recently the Comfort Hotel Victoria. In the town of Florø in the west of Norway, the hotel is Scandic’s 19th franchise hotel. The Helle family office will continue to operate the property.

NH hotel opens in Copenhagen

Minor Hotels has opened the 162-room NH Copenhagen Grand Joanne, its second property in the Danish capital and third in the Nordics region. In the Vesterbro district of the city, the property, owned by Finnish investor CapMan and formerly an independent, occupies a building dating to 1892 but which has been a hotel since 1928.

Whitbread begins construction on London Hub by Premier Inn

Whitbread PLC has started construction on a flagship Hub by Premier Inn hotel on a site it acquired in August 2022 at 5 Strand, right on the corner of London’s Trafalgar Square. The hotel will 693 rooms and a development budget of £200 million, and it will be one of the largest budget hotels in the United Kingdom capital when it opens in the third quarter of 2028.

Holiday Inn Resort planned for Bodrum, Turkey

In mid-2026, IHG and owner Uslu Turizm İnşaat Taşımacılık Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.Ş. plan to open the 460-room Holiday Inn Resort Bodrum West Beach. The announced property will mark IHG’s 50th Turkish hotel either open or in the pipeline.

Ritz-Carlton opens in Kenya

Marriott has opened The Ritz-Carlton, Masai Mara Safari Camp, in the Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya, but very close to the border of Tanzania. The luxury camp has 20 tents, and 70% of its staff come from local communities.

Travelodge begins development on Cardiff hotel

Travelodge has begun construction on a new-build, 182-room hotel alongside Cardiff, Wales’ new 16,500-seat stadium, the New Cardiff Bay Arena that also is due to open in 2028. The hotel is to be named the Travelodge Cardiff Arena.

Steigenberger Hotel in Berlin changes hands

PGIM Real Estate has acquired the 339-room Steigenberger Hotel am Kanzleramt in Berlin. Adjacent to the German’s capital major transportation rail hub of Hauptbahnhof, the hotel, originally opened in 2014, will be continued to be managed by Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts, part of Deutsche Hospitality.

Radisson Red opens at England rugby team stadium in London

Radisson Hotel Group has opened the Radisson Red London Twickenham, the first of the brand to open at a sports stadium, in this case at Twickenham, the national stadium used for England rugby team home games and officially known as the London Allianz Stadium. The hotel initially opened in 2009 and has operated as the independent London Twickenham Stadium Hotel. Its operator is Aimbridge EMEA.

Accor opens Mövenpick hotel in Italy

Accor has debuted the Mövenpick Hotel Bari, the brand first hotel in Italy. The 186-room Puglia property is a conversion of Bari's independent Palace Hotel and will be managed by Noci, Italy-based Greenblu Hotels & Resorts.

Sir Devonshire Square opens in London

Amsterdam-based firm Sir Hotels has opened its debut hotel in London, the Sir Devonshire Square, named for the City of London square it sits on. The hotel’s facilities and 81 guest rooms occupy a former 17th-century textile warehouse. An upcoming phase will include the debut of The Cover, a Sircle Collection’s private members’ club.

Mandarin Oriental hotel in Vienna opens in October

The 138-room Mandarin Oriental, Vienna has announced its opening date. Guests can arrive from Oct. 20. It has been remodeled from heritage-listed, Art Nouveau former courthouse.
