Pinnacle SkyTower has topped off at 106 floors as the downtown Toronto high-rise nears completion at a final height of 351.85 metres, or 1,154 feet tall, considered the tallest building in Canada.
Developer Pinnacle International recently topped off the tower at One Yonge St., an occasion where the team typically signs the final beam to be placed at the top of a structure.
The downtown tower is scheduled to open this year with 959 luxury condominiums from the 13th to the 105th floors, as well as 225 boutique hotel suites on the first 12 floors that will be part of the Le Meridien Toronto Pinnacle Hotel. The mixed-use complex also will contain 80,000 square feet of amenities, the developer said.
Pinnacle SkyTower’s highest floor is in line with the CN Tower’s main observation deck, making it the tallest building in Canada. CN Tower, at 1,815 feet, or about 553 metres, doesn't count in rankings because the city classifies it as a broadcasting tower.
“Now that we’ve reached the 106-storey mark, you can really feel the momentum accelerating," said Anson Kwok, Pinnacle vice president of sales and marketing, in a statement. “Pinnacle SkyTower offers the exclusive opportunity to live in a fully customized home in the tallest building in Canada, creating a new standard for luxury living in Toronto.”
Pinnacle is a major Canadian developer based in Vancouver. In addition to building towers in its hometown, Toronto and Mississauga, it developed the Pinnacle Tower in San Diego, a 36-floor multifamily building that’s one of the tallest buildings in that city.
At Pinnacle SkyTower, condo buyers can buy and combine multiple units, a likely indication that the development team anticipates a sizeable cohort of families will choose to make their homes in the tower.
“We’re in that sweet spot of being about a year out,” Kwok told CoStar News in December. “I’m dealing with a handful of clients right now who are combining units and doing more customized suites that meet their families’ needs.”
