Cushman & Wakefield's Aaron Barnard has been elected to serve as global president of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors, or SIOR. He is set to assume the role for a one-year term at the organization’s fall conference to be held in October in New York City.

Barnard, a Bloomington, Minnesota-based senior director at Cushman, brings 33 years of commercial real estate experience to the SIOR leadership role. He has been involved in leasing over 30.5 million square feet of office, medical and mixed-use space. An SIOR member since 2009, he won the organization’s 2017 Robert P. CBRE promoted John Morris to group president for its U.S. and Canada advisory business, and Chris Zubel to executive managing director of its industrial and logistics division. Morris succeeds Manish Kashyap, who moved to an executive role at the brokerage’s strategic occupier accounts group. In his new role, Zubel will oversee over 840 industrial and logistics brokers, the company said.

Newmark said it appointed new leaders for its Occupier Solutions team. The brokerage picked 19-year company veteran Tom Hundelt as the group’s global head of operations and risk and hired Justin Smith as its global head of health, safety and environment, or HSE, division. Smith most recently served as head of environmental health and safety for the Americas at Cushman & Wakefield. Newmark said both leaders will work on the firm’s global HSE strategy, including strengthening risk governance, contractor safety and operations consistency across client portfolios.

Orlando, Florida-based Hillpointe, a real estate development and investment management firm specializing in multifamily housing, appointed Nyssa Delos Santos as vice president of centralized operations. In her new role, she will lead Hillpointe’s enterprisewide service operations strategy, development and optimization. She has more than a decade of experience, having previously worked at Equity Residential.

Transwestern added Alissa Adler and John Homsher as managing directors on its Chicago-based Midwest Capital Markets Group that has offices in Minneapolis, St. Louis, Detroit and Milwaukee. The two have worked together across asset classes including office, industrial, single-tenant triple net leased, medical office and surplus corporate real estate.

Tom Murphy and Sean Murphy have been appointed co-CEO’s of South Florida’s Coastal Construction as part of an ongoing leadership transition. The two brothers served as co-presidents for the 11 years prior to the change. Coastal, one of the country’s largest family-owned general contractors, said founder Thomas P. Murphy Jr. remains chairman of the executive board.
