Boston approves new zoning as part of continued effort to revitalize downtown

In a move aimed at spurring additional housing in downtown Boston, the Boston Zoning Commission last month unanimously approved rezoning that allows taller buildings in parts of the city's downtown. According to the city, this was the first comprehensive downtown zoning update in 30 years. The updated regulations are intended to encourage office-to-residential building conversions in an area facing a severe housing shortage, while also increasing protections for existing historic and cultural buildings downtown.
