Typically, branded hotels undergo renovations every seven years to stay current, meet guest expectations, satisfy brand standards and ultimately remain competitive in the marketplace. Although renovations can be phased and do not always require hotels to shut down, major overhauls can result in temporary closings lasting from a few months to several years.
