Hitachi Energy has signed a lease for a UK engineering centre of excellence in Glasgow city centre.
The global firm will take the 14,982-square-foot 8th floor at 110 Queen Street on a new 10-year lease, joining Deloitte, NatWest, Brodies, WSP, Clyde & Co and ACCA.
Hitachi Energy is a leader in electrification. Backed by a £1.7 million grant from Scottish Enterprise, the firm will invest over £3 million to open the city centre site early next year. The centre will create a base for 88 engineers and project managers who will focus on upgrading the UK’s electrical grid in the move towards a net-zero future.
Fergus Maclennan, of Adapt Commercial Property, who brokered the deal on behalf of the landlord DWS, said in a statement: “We are thrilled to attract another high-calibre occupier to 110 Queen Street following a raft of recent new lettings. A massive coup for Glasgow and the wider Scottish economy.”
Caroline McCabe, the UK and Irealnd country real estate manager for Hitachi Energy said: “We wanted the highest quality, contemporary space for our new Centre of Excellence. Hitachi Energy was attracted to the central location, sustainability credentials and high-quality offering at 110 Queen Street.”
Adapt Commercial Property advised DWS.
