Newmark hires consulting chief; Former Miami official joins JLL team; Corgan adds education project executives

Newmark appointed Munish Viralam as an executive vice chairman to lead its real estate strategy and consulting group. The real estate services firm said Viralam is based in New York and will head its practice that works with Newmark advisors to navigate transactions and decisions, including those related to operations, financial analysis and lease negotiations.

Viralam brings nearly two decades of experience advising major corporate tenants. He joined Newmark from CBRE, where he served as an executive vice president in the firm’s consulting group in New York. 

JLL hired Andrew Frey, former head of real estate for the city of Miami, as managing director for its South Florida region, based in the firm's Miami office. The company said Frey will serve public-sector clients and advise private-sector clients doing business with governments, universities, healthcare systems and other public agencies. Frey oversaw Miami’s commercial real estate portfolio and public-private initiatives. His 20-year career includes earlier roles at companies such as AJ Capital, Crescent Heights and White Oak. He practiced land-use law at the Akerman and Gunster firms.

Global architecture and design firm Corgan announced four leadership appointments in its growing education practice. The company said it named Sylvia Cancino as education studio leader in San Antonio, and Lance Melton to the same post in Austin, Texas. The firm also hired Simon Martinez as vice president in its Atlanta office, focused on Corgan’s K-12 practice across the Southeast; and Ed Napier as Orlando education studio leader, leading the firm’s expansion efforts in Central Florida. Cancino and Melton are 30-year design industry veterans, with Martinez and Napier bringing more than 20 years of experience.

Justin Arzi joined Colliers as a senior vice president on its New York capital markets team. Arzi brings nearly a decade of experience, joining Colliers from CBRE, where he served as a vice president in that firm’s New York capital markets practice. Colliers is in the process of expanding its New York operations for commercial real estate financing, the company said.

Commercial real estate finance company Greystone hired Joshua Rosen as senior managing director, focused on originating senior housing and healthcare loans. The firm said Rosen is based in Chicago and joined Greystone from Walker & Dunlop, where he served as senior vice president and managing director. His work over the past 16 years also included roles at Capital One and Oppenheimer Multifamily Housing and Healthcare Finance.

A&G Real Estate Partners, focused on commercial property sales and lease negotiations, said it hired Ted Parris as a senior consultant. Parris brings four decades of industry experience, advising mid-sized and Fortune 1,000 corporate clients such as Walgreens, Starbucks and Citibank. Parris is based in Chicago and previously founded Parris Monroe Partners. He worked earlier at firms including JLL, Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, Grubb & Ellis and The Staubach Co.

Commercial real estate services firm Franklin Street added Brett Moss to its institutional multifamily investment sales team as managing director, based in Orlando, Florida. Moss brings two decades of industry experience, with prior work at firms such as Berkadia, HFF and CBRE. He has worked most recently with multifamily and build-to-rent property clients. Franklin Street said the hiring followed the earlier addition of Rudy Reudelhuber as executive managing director in Orlando, after the company acquired hotel property finance advisory firm Hodges Ward Elliott.

Multifamily development and investment management firm Hillpointe promoted Jessica Gooden, Amanda Sistrand and Tyler Garner to new vice president positions. The Winter Park, Florida-based company said Gooden is focused on property, marketing, startup and preleasing operations, and Sistrand handles corporate and event marketing. Garner’s work is in branding and creative operations. All three have more than 15 years of industry experience.
