Fern Kanter has 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry, spanning many facets of hotel operations and investment. Recently retired from CHMWarnick, Fern was Managing Director and Executive Vice President with a primary focus on developing and executing strategies to achieve ownership investment objectives for the CHMW portfolio of hotels, managing the due diligence team responsible for investment analyses, and day-to-day oversight and coordination of the team’s professional staff development.

Fern has been named as one of Hotel Management Magazine’s Influential Women in Hospitality. In support of her commitment to elevating women in hospitality, Fern was on the Board of the non-profit Castell Project until its merger with the AHLA Foundation and is the Founder and Co-Chair of Castell@College. She was also a Founding Member of the Urban Land Institute’s Women’s Leadership Initiative, launched Boston’s 5th Gear Shift, a weekend workshop to prepare graduating women embarking upon careers in hospitality. In addition to Board service, Fern is also a speaker at hotel industry conferences, has been a university guest lecturer, and was a contributing author for “Hotel Asset Management” published by AHLA’s Educational Institute.
