JLL Capital Markets Launches Multifamily Team in Boston

JLL Capital Markets said it formed what it called the only all-female multihousing brokerage team in the Boston market, a unit set up to provide investment sales and debt and equity advisory services for multifamily clients in the area.

Martha Nay has been appointed to lead the newly formed investment sales advisory group as managing director. She will be joined by Director Kellie Coveney in the Boston office to offer investment sales advisory services in the region.

In a move to provide more integrated service, Nay and Coveney will work closely with Director Jacqueline Meagher, who specializes in debt and equity advisory for the property type.

Jacqueline Meagher

The trio collectively bring more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience and have been involved in more than $6 billion in completed transactions.

The new team was formed to meet the increasing need for capital solutions within the sector in Boston. According to JLL Research, Boston demand is largely impacted by the region’s diverse and cycle-resistant employment base, including the technology and life science industries, while transaction volume in the area hit an all-time high last year.

"We are excited for the value proposition of our integrated multihousing team and plan to serve as a meaningful player in the market with the support of our platform both locally and nationally," said Matthew Lawton, executive managing director and platform leader of JLL Capital Markets' investment sales and advisory platform, in a statement.

Nay, Coveney and Meagher all joined JLL as part of the HFF acquisition in 2019.

Nay has participated in the sale and capitalization of a broad range of property types with experience in underwriting and structuring investment deals as well as construction, conventional, permanent, agency, bridge, mezzanine, preferred equity and joint-venture debt financing. Before joining HFF in 2013, she worked as a portfolio manager and assistant vice president at Citizens Bank, and earlier in her career taught high school Spanish in Baltimore, Maryland, as a Teach For America corps member.

Coveney specializes in investment advisory throughout New England related to multifamily. Prior to joining HFF in 2017, Coveney worked as a senior director at Yahoo! in New York and began her career in financial consulting with IBM's global business services.

Meagher specializes in debt and equity placement transactions in the sector. Before HFF, she worked in analyst positions at the Roseview Group and at Anglo Irish Bank.
