Historic Fort Shelby Reopens With New Name, $90M Upgrade

Doubletree Hotel Includes 203 Guest Suites, 21,000 SF in Meeting and Event Space

The Fort Shelby Hotel, an historic hotel built near the turn of the 19th century, has been brought back to life as Doubletree Guest Suites Fort Shelby/Detroit Downtown. Larry Brinker, co-founder of Detroit-based L.S. Brinker Co., oversaw the $90 million in renovations that began last May.
