Fort Myers is set to become home to one of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s newest operations centers, with a new crime lab and an investigative operations center set to emerge along Oriole Road.
The Fort Myers Regional Operations Center is being developed by Easterly Government Properties and its partner, Seagate Development Group, to FDLE specifications.
The 64,000-square-foot facility will be built on an industrial park site off Oriole Road north of Alico Road, on roughly 8 acres at 16595 Oriole Road, in unincorporated Lee County. The site offers immediate access to Interstate 75 via two different exits, as well as proximity to Southwest Florida International Airport, just under 7 miles away.
When completed later this year, the Fort Myers Regional Operations Center will come equipped with a new state-of-the-art crime lab, flexible training center to support agency personnel and local law enforcement partners. FDLE’s lease on the site will start upon opening and is set to last for 25 years.
Given the lease’s complexity, its address of community needs and its inter-organizational coordination, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s new Fort Myers Regional Operations Center has been named lease of the year for Southwest Florida by a panel of independent real estate professionals familiar with the local market.
About the lease: The Florida Department of Law Enforcement selected Easterly Government Properties and Seagate Development Group to develop the new mission-critical facility. FDLE's 25-year lease includes two 5-year renewal options, with an annual rent exceeding $5 million.
They made it happen: Gary Tasman, CEO and principal broker of Cushman & Wakefield Commercial Property Southwest Florida, and Shawn Stoneburner, senior director at Cushman & Wakefield Commercial Property Southwest Florida, alongside Matthew Price, CEO of Seagate Development Group, and Lee Ann Korst, executive vice president of CBRE, representing FDLE.
