DMB Associates, Inc. and Gaylord Entertainment (NYSE:GET) recently announced an agreement to create a destination resort and convention center in Mesa, AZ. DMB said Westcor will provide and future retail planning. The site of the project is Mesa Proving Grounds, a 3,200-acre portion of land used currently by General Motors as its desert testing facility. Located at Loop 202 and US 60, the parcel is adjacent to an Airport, Arizona State University's Polytechnic school. The project is planned to host an urban environment that features a 100-acre Gaylord resort property, a Westcor retail development, a golf course designed by Tom Fazio, Class-A office space, first class residential offerings and significant other mixed-use components. Gaylord expects the hotel to be the largest in Arizona once complete.
