Short-Term Trend Runs Counter to Recent Housing Demand

The Puget Sound region saw its population shrink in 2021. While the region saw increased demand for apartments and an incredibly tight housing market, an increase in housing demand did not translate to an increase in population. New census data indicates the area lost population between 2020 and 2021.
