Plans in Dallas to redevelop the historic Ambassador Hotel, a nearly 115-year-old building with the first elevator west of the Mississippi, into a micro-unit apartment complex are in ashes as a four-alarm fire left crumbling remnants on the site city leaders hoped would help connect pedestrian access in the downtown.
