Exxon Mobil Selling Off its 820 Company-Owned Stations

Gasoline Magnate Getting out of Retail Business

Exxon Mobil Corp. is getting out of the consumer gas station business; at least operating stations directly. The gasoline magnate said yesterday it plans to sell off its remaining 820 company-owned gas stations, as well as another 1,400 that are operated by dealers. Without placing a value on the sale, Exxon said stations would be sold off over a "multiyear period."
