Last month, Lamington Group completed a deal to sell its 71-key room2 hometel in Southampton to Aberdeen Standard Investments in what marked the first major institutional investment into the hometel sector. We catch up with Robert Godwin, managing director of the company that has 700 units in the pipeline and is on track to deliver 5,000 keys by 2030. He tells us how the company managed to keep the lights on while traditional hotels shuttered and why its business model will outshine traditional hoteliers and peers in the post-pandemic world.
