Vacancy for retail spaces of 1,000 square feet or less has surged in Dallas-Fort Worth in the first quarter of 2026. The segment, which has traditionally been one of the metropolitan area's most consistently tight performers, recorded its largest increase in availability since the post-pandemic construction wave, as a major quick-service restaurant operator scaled back its footprint across North Texas.
