Americas Hotel Results for February

The Americas region reported a 3.1% increase in occupancy to 57.7%; a 3.8% gain in ADR to $106.53; and 7% jump in RevPAR to $61.49.

LONDON and HENDERSONVILLE, Tennessee—The Americas region recorded positive results in the three key performance metrics when reported in U.S. dollars for February 2012, according to data compiled by STR and STR Global.

The Americas region reported a 3.1-percent increase in occupancy to 57.7 percent, a 3.8-percent gain in average daily rate to US$106.53 and 7.0-percent jump in revenue per available room to US$61.49.

Among the region’s key markets, New York, New York (+7.3 percent to 71.9 percent) and Mexico City, Mexico (+7.0 percent to 66.7 percent), reported the largest occupancy increases for the month. Sao Paulo, Brazil, fell 15.1 percent in occupancy to 58.4 percent, posting the largest decrease in that metric, followed by Panama City, Panama, with an 8.6-percent decrease to 64.4 percent.

Four markets experienced double-digit ADR increases: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (+50.6 percent to US$265.27); San Francisco, California (+16.1 percent to US$168.31); Sao Paulo (+15.8 percent to US$153.03); and Santiago, Chile (+10.0 percent to US$158.47).

Panama City reported the largest decreases for the month in ADR (-6.8 percent to US$126.31) and RevPAR (-14.8 percent to US$81.32).

Rio de Janeiro jumped 57.3 percent in RevPAR to US$208.78, reporting the largest increase in that metric, followed by San Francisco (+20.5 percent to US$123.80) and Santiago (+14.2 percent to US$100.98).
