LaSalle Investment Management has made its first foray into life science real estate by acquiring a 49% stake in a five-building office campus that houses the headquarters of biotech firm Illumina Inc. in San Diego's University Town Center neighborhood for $286.75 million. The deal is San Diego's second-priciest office transaction of 2019 and the latest sign of strength for both life science real estate and the high-demand UTC office neighborhood.
