Ruck Lane, a private market firm led by a former CEO of Cushman & Wakefield in Canada, has added a new executive.
Ruck Lane said it hired Andrew Garrett as chief investment officer. In his new role, Garrett will lead Ruck Lane's investment strategy and oversee its portfolio growth, the firm said. He also will manage risk and direct capital allocation decisions across its national platform of real estate portfolio companies, according to the firm.
Chuck Scott, who worked at Cushman & Wakefield for 16 years, including as its CEO from 2016 to 2024, launched Ruck Lane in October 2024.
"With increasing structural undersupply of housing across Canada, an opportunity-rich investment landscape for riding real estate recovery, Andrew brings a proven track record in strategic portfolio management, capital formation, and global institutional-grade execution," Scott said in a statement. "Andrew's appointment signals the next chapter in our mission to realize the durable and sustainable potential in the premium purpose-built rental housing sector."
Garrett recently served as chief investment officer at Spotlight Development, where he will move to an advisory board position, while at Ruck Lane. Previously, he was a senior principal with the real estate portfolio at Investment Management Corp. of Ontario.
At Ruck Lane, Garrett will work closely with private equity real estate investment management firm Private Pension Partners, or p3.
Garrett also will work closely with Private Pension Partners as it scales its platform and with P3's Apartment Plus (A+) REIT investment fund, Ruck Lane said.
