Kimpton has heavy brand representation in the Los Angeles market, and Kimpton Hotel Wilshire General Manager Justin Henry said that has translated to a heavy presence in the city's dual Pride month events.
Speaking on the latest episode of the Next Gen in Lodging podcast, Henry noted sister property Kimpton Everly was the official hotel of Los Angeles Pride, and he was glad to see colleagues from across Kimpton's LA presence take part in the Pride parade on June 14.
"I have the smallest of the four properties, so we had eight from my property, then in total between the four, close to 40 colleagues marched in Pride," he said.
Henry noted the business benefits of Pride participation have been great for Kimpton, with all four hotels "pretty booked up" for the West Hollywood Pride event.
He noted the vibe between those two events is different, with LA focusing on community and West Hollywood structured more like "a big music festival."
Henry, who is openly gay himself, said connecting to LGBTQ+ communities is an important aspect of his own travel experiences.
"When I travel, I want to always check out the gayborhood," he said. "I want to learn a little bit more about the gay and lesbian history. So it's something that's usually at the forefront of my attention when I do travel."
