Viega is expected to bring nearly 70 jobs to Northeast Ohio as a result of the company's acquisition of an 80-acre parcel in the Geis Turnpike Commerce Center.
The transaction was valued at $17.6 million. Viega plans to build a $75 million building on the land that will bring a projected 68 new jobs to the area.
The project was selected as the winner of the 2024 CoStar Impact Award for sale/acquisition of the year for Cleveland, as judged by a local team of real estate professionals familiar with the market.
About the Project: Viega is a Germany-based manufacturer of plumbing, heating, cooling and air-conditioning systems and fittings with locations worldwide. The Turnpike Commerce Center in Shalersville, Ohio, outside of Cleveland, was developed by Geis as a location for logistics, technology, e-commerce and fulfillment operations, located on the Ohio Turnpike. The new center, which has more than 1 million square feet, is poised to attract further business to the area, bolstering job growth and adding capital.
What the Judges Said: "Job creation is a critical driver for the local economy and for continued growth in the region. Creating 68 new jobs, in addition to the jobs supported by the construction and development of this deal, make it a very attractive transaction that benefits the region," said Antonin Robert, president of community development, GBX Group.
They Made It Happen: Kevin Malinowski, Mark Abood, Ed Matzules, and Chris Fairchild of Colliers and Al Krist of Geis Cos.
