When Jenda Family Services bought its new building, the sale did more than help the organization expand. By enabling Jenda to consolidate into a single larger campus, it supported the social service's mission of better serving families across the area.
Jenda Family Services works with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and Probation to support families through services that promote safety, stability, and family preservation.
The broad effect across the community of Jenda's approximately $2.2 million property purchase led a panel of local real estate professionals to recognize the project with the CoStar Impact Award for sale/acquisition of the year for Lincoln.
Ruth Nwaturuocha of M3 Management and Consulting and an award judge, said the deal "facilitated a key consolidation for a company that provides critical community services."
The organization offers a wide range of services, including drug testing, family support and supervised visitation, foster care, reunification programs, and mental health services, while respecting each family's culture and values.
The building is more than 18,400 square feet on more than 4.3 acres, and it was built in 1997. The deal involved a $1 million Small Business Administration loan.
About the project: Jenda Outpatient Clinic provides mental health and substance use treatment as well. The sale provided a larger campus for Jenda to continue its work in Lincoln.
What the judges said: James McCombs of Guiderock Commercial Realty LLC said that "Jenda Family Services is a bastion of Lincoln that provides exceptional care, and being able to continue to do so at a consolidated campus will further help our community."
They made it happen: Boomer Peterson and Katy Martin of Lee & Associates Lincoln represented the buyer. Todd Lorenz and Alan Beyke of Prism Commercial represented the seller.
