Europe, Middle East and Africa deals, developments: Evok Collection to open French Alpine resort

Evok Collection plans to open the Nolinski Val d’Isère in the French Alps in December 2029. The 1970s property, formerly the Hôtel La Savoyarde, will have 45 rooms and is owned by Paris-based Zaka Investments.

Hyatt Hotels Corp. has signed a second hotel in Zimbabwe following Dubai-based owner Albwardy Investments' intent to open the 245-room Grand Hyatt Victoria Falls The Kingdom. The original hotel first opened in 1996 and was renovated in 2024. The property is close to one to the entrance gates of Victoria Falls.

Saudi Arabian owner and developer Amsa Hospitality and Radisson Hotel Group will open a Radisson Individuals hotel in the Diplomatic Quarter of capital Riyadh. It will have 240 rooms. Arab News reports the project is valued at 400 million Saudi riyals ($105 million) and will open by the end of the year.

Minor Hotels has signed a deal to manage seven hotels in the United Arab Emirates’ emirate of Sharjah that owner Sharjah Investment & Development Authority market collectively as the Sharjah Collection. All the properties are nature- and heritage-oriented eco-tourism assets and include the 46-room Al Badayer Retreat; five-room Al Faya Retreat; 40-room Kingfisher Retreat; 16-room Moon Retreat; Najd Al Meqsar, a house, not a hotel; Nomad, with 20 solar-powered trailers, and 35-room Al Rayaheen Retreat.

Hyatt has signed three hotels to bolster its Italian portfolio. The 238-room Hyatt Regency Rome Central is scheduled to open by the end of the third quarter of this year in a deal with owner Blantyre Capital. The 69-room Thompson Rome is due to open in the the fourth quarter along with owner Finanziaria Tosinvest. Finally, in a deal with owner Omnam Group, the 121-room Park Hyatt Taormina is scheduled to open as the second Park Hyatt in the country in 2028.

JP Hospitality, the hotel division of investment firm JP Immobilien, acquired the 219-room Lindner Hotel Vienna Am Belvedere, part of Hyatt brand JDV by Hyatt. Located in the Austrian capital, the hotel will be continued to be operated by Lindner Hotel Group. CoStar data said the acquisition price is undisclosed.

IHG Hotels & Resorts and owner Kvarnholmen Utveckling plan to open the 232-room Hotel Indigo Stockholm-Kvarnholmen. When it debuts in 2029, it will be the first Hotel Indigo in Sweden, and it will be leased and operated by 1912 Hotels under a franchise agreement.

Hyatt has debuted its Destination Hyatt brand in Uzbekistan with the 148-room Beldersoy Resort & Spa in the Beldersoy Mountains, in the country’s Chimgan-Bostanliq region. The mountain resort, owned by Uzbeck firm Ulkan Mulk, has 36 private villas.

The famed Danieli Hotel on Venice’s Grand Canal has reopened in its new era as the Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel. Owned by Italian investment firm Gruppo Statuto, the property has 120 rooms, a total that is expected to grow to 168 when renovation work to its adjacent Palazzo Danieli Excelsior is finished next year. The hotel’s building dates to 1400.

Spanish hotel group Silken Hoteles is the new owner and operator of the Hotel Antequera Hills in the Andalucian town of Antequera, near Málaga. Now known as the Silken Antequera Hills, the hotel has 186 rooms and is Silken’s return to the Spanish province.

Minor plans to bring its NH Hotels & Resorts brand to Saudi Arabia with the NH Riyadh Prime Square Hotel to Saudi Arabia, marking the debut of NH Hotels & Resorts brand in the Middle East. Developed by Heyazah Real Estate Development, the hotel will welcome its first guests in 2030.

Radisson Hotel Group has signed the 262-room Radisson Blu Hotel & Conference Center, Salzburg, which has the largest amount of meeting space in the Austrian city. Its ballroom has space for 1,000 persons, and the owner is Austrian real estate investment trust Hotel Salzburg Betriebsgesellschaft mbH.

Primestar Group has signed a hotel in Berlin cooperation with owner Ehret+Klein AG that it plans on being its flagship hotel. To open in 2028, the June Six & Stay Warschauer Platz Berlin will have approximately 350 rooms.

Accor and owner AGP Hotels have debuted the 189-room Ibis Budget Barcelona Center, a new build that is part of the regeneration project art 22@ Barcelona in the Catalan city’s Poblenou district.

French investor Magellim REIM has acquired two hotels in Paris from Extendam. The first hotel is the 51-room Grand Hôtel Chicago, the second is the 37-room Hôtel Riesner, and the total price tag, according to CoStar, is approximately €46 million.

Operator Numa Group has signed its first hotel in Basel, Switzerland. Owned by Ecoreal Schweizerische Immobilien Anlagestiftung, the property will have 60 rooms and occupy the former Hotel Basilisk, which the Cavegn family office closed in 2021. Its reopening date is due to be in the second half of 2027.

Italian operator Mangia’s Hotels & Resorts has opened its Costa Ragusa development in Sicily, which will feature two resorts, the 434-room Mangia's Costa Ragusa Borgo and Icona's Costa Ragusa Resort. Both will be up and running on Aug. 1. The owner is Manchester-based Arrow Global Group, and the operator is Mangia's by Aeroviaggi S.p.A.

IHG is returning one of its brands to Vienna with the opening of the 195-room Crowne Plaza Vienna in the third quarter. The deal is in collaboration with Mainz, Germany-based owner Feuring Asset Management GmbH.

Marriott International has opened Northern Ireland’s debut Aloft-branded hotel, the 135-room Aloft by Marriott Belfast Titanic Quarter. Belfast was where the doomed ocean liner RMS Titanic was built and launched. Chart Forte Holdings owns the hotel, and JMK Group operates it.
