Number of Hotel Rooms Sold per Employee Is Dropping After Peaking During the Pandemic

The ratio comparing the number of rooms sold in U.S. hotels to the number of workers tending to guests in those rooms elevated sharply during the pandemic and is still well above the pre-2019 average. Both hotel room demand and accommodation workforce are continually increasing. Still, the decline in hotel workers was so severe, and the return of demand was so strong, that the ratio of rooms sold and staff remained elevated.
