The second Atlantic Ocean Hotel Investors’ Summit (www.aohis.co) will take place on 22-23rd January 2024 at the NH Collection Eurobuilding hotel in Madrid. To date, there are 105 speakers in place, with the organisers, hotel owners’ group HOFTEL, estimating a final tally of 120-125. At present, the vast majority of speakers are hotel owners and owner-operators.
Simon Allison, CEO of HOFTEL, notes: “This is a very uncertain time for the hotel sector. Record results for many properties are combined with headwinds from operating costs, interest rates and geopolitical strife, making both deals and budgets challenging. Owners see bottom lines eroding and the prospect of heavy ESG compliance costs coming down the road. Equity investors, struggling to make deals stack up, are becoming lenders and in some cases getting double-digit returns. Everything is in flux. There is a lot to discuss!”
Many leading Spanish hoteliers are participating including Ramón Aragonés (CEO of NH Hotel Group), Jordi Ferrer (CEO of Grupo Inversor Hesperia), José Rodriguez (CEO of Sercotel Hotel Group), Emilio Iráculis (CEO of Silken Hoteles), Bernat Vicens (CEO of Fergus Group), Federico Holzmann (Global Director of Development, Investment & Asset Management of Catalonia Hotels) and María Zarraluqui (Global Development VP of Meliá).
Other notable speakers include Javier Aguilá (Group President, Europe Africa Middle East of Hyatt Hotels), Dillip Rajakarier (Group CEO and CEO of Minor International and Minor Hotels) and Javier Arús (Managing Partner – Hotels of Azora) – and other investors attending include Blackstone, Brookfield, KSL, Swiss Life, Union Investment, CapMan, Bain, Hova, Explorer Investments, Boscalt, Pandox, Blasson, Covivio, Arsenale, Tristan, Cedar Capital, Invesco, CPG Real Estate, IREMIS, InvestiRe, Borealis and DEKA.
