A top-selling apartment broker has returned to Colliers to form an investment team in Seattle as multifamily deal activity picks up again across the region.
Sam Wayne, who has closed more than $3 billion worth of apartment sales over 15 years, rejoined Colliers as senior vice president after three years in that role at Cushman & Wakefield.
Colliers has tasked Wayne with putting together a team focused on bringing in sales, development projects and joint-venture equity at the time when apartment investment is booming again in greater Seattle.
Multifamily sales volume climbed to nearly $4 billion in the first three quarters of 2025 — levels not seen in the region since before the pandemic, according to CoStar.
Wayne left after eight years at Colliers to join Cushman & Wakefield in 2022, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to first joining Colliers in 2014, his roles included two years as senior associate with Marcus & Millichap in Texas.
He has closed more than 100 deals, including several of Seattle's most high-profile transactions of the past few years. Wayne was part of a team that brokered the $173.8 million sale of Spyglass, a 29-story glass tower in the South Lake Union neighborhood, in one of the region's biggest apartment deals last year.
“Seattle multifamily is at an inflection point," Wayne said in a statement. "Investors want more than brokerage, they want a partner who can anticipate shifts, source the right capital and unlock value others overlook."
