Industrial leasing activity has been slowing all year in the major southwest Florida markets of Sarasota and Fort Myers. Through the third quarter of 2023, the region recorded less than 2.5 million square feet in industrial leasing volume. By comparison, roughly 3.2 million square feet of leasing was recorded over the same period in 2022. In addition, the third quarter was the lightest quarter for leasing volume since 2019, with only 725,000 square feet.
