U-Store-It/Amsdell Cos., the largest privately held self-storage owner/operator in the United States, purchased the self-storage property at 1531 Montiel Road in Escondido, CA. Formerly known as Vanguard Self Storage, the 1,370-unit facility consists of approximately 143,000 square feet on approximately 4.5 acres. The two-story building, which opened in the summer of 2002, was purchased for $10.6 million, nearly $7,740 per unit.
