1 April 2030, now less than five years away, is the targeted deadline by which all commercial buildings should require a minimum energy efficiency standard EPC B rating to be legally let under the new legislation. Although not breaking news to anyone in the industry, with only 10% of the UK’s 180,000 offices achieving an EPC B rating or above in 2024 according to CBRE, a major question still looms large over how swathes of office stock can feasibly be upgraded before new rules come into effect.
