The labor force retreats in San Diego

Unemployment rises to highest level since January

San Diego’s unemployment rate rose to the highest level since the start of the year in July, according to the latest jobs report released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. San Diego’s rate was 4.7% in July, up from 4.5% in June, although down from 5% last July. California’s statewide unemployment rate was 5.3% in July.
